The Unfair Sales Act of Wisconsin has been deemed constitutional. Several years ago, Raj Bhandari who owns a gas station north of Madison was accosted by bureaucrats because his gas prices were too low. Bhandari was offering a discount of 2 cents per gallon to senior citizens and 3 cents per gallon for those who donated to a local youth hockey league. Unacceptable, proclaimed the wise central planners.

In an attempt to overturn the 1930s law, Raj filed a lawsuit declaring that the law violates the state constitution's equal protection clause because it unfairly singles out gas retailers for regulation.

Rather than analyze the constitutionality of the law, the court struck down Raj's lawsuit. Their basis: the law is conducive to fair pricing. "Fair" was not defined.

This is disturbing. Shouldn't businesses and consumers set the price for a commodity and not clueless bureaucrats and central planners? When a buyer and seller agree to a price to their mutual benefit and the government says no, THAT is unfair to both parties. Why not apply the law to other commodities? Sugar, salt, grain, etc. Lastly, many states don't have this regulation. Many of them have lower gas prices than Wisconsin. Minnesota and Montana are two examples.

Just wanted to say thanks for writing that. Saved me alot of trouble. I had tried MagicBlockv1.2, but calls still made me lose focus on my current window (running XPsp3). That's no good when you are in the middle of a full screen game, it gets minimized. It would be nice to still have the softphone running, but for me it's a small price to pay to not have to load another user at every reboot. Again, thanks!!!

Thanks for a terrific util! It worked perfectly, first attempt. Now I don't have to suffer thru MJ's interminable loadup and its annoying pop-up, nor the useless dialpad. this is a great tool. worked perfectly on win xp sp3 and no effect on my calling. i am running mj on a old computer and its has only one user on it and it is now logged off from the user and mj is still running. Its cool.
